The Department of Commerce published the final results of the fourth administrative review of the antidumping duty order on certain preserved mushrooms from India. The department made changes to the margin calculations from the preliminary result issued on Mar. 8, 2004. Full Notice

Sales of the 2003-04 U.S. mushroom crop are 857 million pounds, up 1% from both the 2002-03 and 2001-02 seasons. Value of sales for the 2003-04 U.S. mushroom crop is $920 million, up 3% from the previous season and 1% above the 2001-02 season. The number of growers, at 278, is up 13 from last season. Average price is $1.07 per pound, up two cents from 2002-03, according to USDA's Mushrooms report. View Report

The National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods will hold public meetings of the full committee and subcommittees in Washington, DC on Aug. 24-27. The committee will continue to discuss: (1) Performance standards for ground chicken/ ground turkey, (2) the scientific basis for establishing safety-based "use by" date labeling for refrigerated ready-to-eat foods and (3) scientific criteria for redefining pasteurization.
