About Brian Sharoff

Mr. Sharoff is President of the Private Label Manufacturers Association, a position he has held since 1981. In his official capacity, he reports on industry trends and is a frequent presenter on private label issues at business and industry events worldwide. PLMA represents more than 3,000 members worldwide and sponsors private label trade shows internationally. PLMA presents its annual Private Label Trade Show for the U.S. in Chicago every November. In addition, PLMA presents the "World of Private Label" Trade Show in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in May, and co-sponsors the Shanghai Private Label Fair in China in December.

Mr. Sharoff joined PLMA after five years as Executive Vice President of the Metropolitan New York Retail Merchants Association, which represented department store chains serving the New York metro market. Prior to that, he served three terms as a Member of the New York Legislature. He has been a member of the adjunct teaching faculty at St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia. He has also been a coadjutant instructor on the teaching faculty at Rutgers University, and a lecturer on retailing topics at The New School for Social Research in New York. Mr. Sharoff received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College in New York (1964) and holds an MA in International Relations from Rutgers University (1966.)

About Darren Siefer

As a food and beverage industry analyst for the NPD Group, Darren provides insights based on NPD's food-related research to organizations and companies across the country. Darren spent many years with Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) examining consumer packaged goods trends, and worked with a variety of industry leaders covering dozens of food and beverage categories. He has authored NPD topical reports including, How the Economy affects Consumers' In-Home Meal Strategies, Profile of the Organics Consumer, and the Impact of Baby Boomers and Millennials on America's Eating Patterns. He is also a contributing writer for numerous trade publications. Darren holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and makes his home in New York City.
