About 66% of those in the restaurant
industry believe going green would make their brands
appear more attractive to
consumers, while 63% indicated that they felt an ethical
obligation to make their businesses more environmentally
sound, according to a study conducted by Retail Systems
Research in partnership with Nation's Restaurant News.

will add another building to
its Batavia, IL-based headquarters.

intends to fix the hypermarket model and revealed
that the company is testing several projects, some inspired
by Carrefour's Brazilian hypermarkets. The revamp will
be launched in France, Belgium and Spain starting next

shelves and reduce the number of references by 15% and

FDA's Reportable Food Registry (RFR),
a webinar hosted by The Food Institute and
Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz PC, discussed
FDA's current thinking regarding the RFR.
The RFR is an electronic portal industry must
use to alert the FDA when they find their
products might sicken or kill people or animals.
The reporting requirement applies to all foods
and animal feed regulated by FDA, except infant
formula and dietary supplements, which are
covered by other regulatory requirements.

The strawberry market rose several
dollars per tray leading into the Valentine's Day
holiday weekend and remained above $20 per flat the
following week (Feb. 15-19) as demand exceeded supply.
However, several days of dry weather in California and
improving growing conditions in Florida should result
